Why is McCain announcing that he no longer wants to talk about the economy?

Les S asked:

Isn’t that *******?

I know that he feels that this economic downturn favors Obama, but why resort to smear tactics and character assassination to try and divert attention from the issue that over 60% of Americans feel is the number one issue?

It was just 2 weeks ago that he faked suspending his campaign to address the economy, now he doesn’t want to talk about it anymore?

Wow, did he really say that.

This is what a leader looks like to Republicans… *shaking my head*

He has actually been talking about the economy 75% of the time in the past few days. Get your facts right.

A lot of things McCain has done have not been the best of strategies but I haven’t seen anything saying he was no longer talking about the economy as your question states. Do you have a reference for this or a source?

McCain knows that he can’t lead, he knows that he has no answers, he knows that he can’t understand the economy.

He wants the election to be about anything but the issues, which effect us the everyday American.

The guy can act… I’ll give that to him….

Since the economy is on people’s minds, that stumps me. It is crucial to our financial survival and apparently the world as well. And now McCain wants to pick and chose what HE wants to talk about? The American people elect and pay the President to represent them. I thought. He is running for President.

I wonder, if smear tactics are supposed to save his candidacy – how would he handle a crisis, or opponent, while in office. It would be diplomatic ******* to smear, let’s say, Putin or Spain….
