Husband wants me to be homemaker and run small business from home but?

morgan asked:

I have a new baby and started a business from home but it makes only a small amount of money. I do not mind being a homemaker primarily but I’m bothered by society looking down on me for not doing more with my life. Should I go back to using my chemistry degree just to do more with my life, or should I enjoy my daughter and family life and accept that I am only a homemaker primarily?.

“should I enjoy my daughter and family life” that line answers your question

Try to find a balance between the two. If u can possible set up a lab in your home, u can do both. it sounds like your hubby is really old fashioned. Do what is best for u and your baby, bcuz THAT is what matters most. I hope this helps.

What is more important to you? Raising your child for the first years of said child’s life or societies opinion of you. Your child will be in school before you know it, it seems the way things are going now in the world kids will be in school by the time they crawl, when your child gets to school age then go back to work. Also why doesn’t your husband stay home. Does he just make more than you would in your field?

Dont do what “society” wants you to do. Do what makes YOU happy, because they can’t do it for you. Sounds like you like being at home and that is GOOD. Many wish they could be at home instead of at a 9 to 5.

A new baby will take up enough of your time that you likely won’t have the energy or inclination to run a business on top of that.

Why do you care what society thinks? Society’s expectations, to many people, require them to sacrifice their own integrity and become people who they are not, simply to fit a norm. If you don’t go out of your way to fit that norm, then you’re shunned. It’s a no-win situation when it comes down to it. If you do what society accepts and not what you feel in your heart, you will be miserable, guaranteed.

Really only you know the right answer to this. However society tends to run our lives way to often. Humans have a tendency to follow the society rules too. I think you need to sit back and realy look at what YOU want not what society wants. Do you want to be there for your daughter’s first laugh or steps or would you rather have someone else tell you about them because you want to be out there doing what you may want to be doing also. It is a very hard decision.
I managed to find nite work so I was home with mine during the day and my husband was home with her during the evening. It wasn’t so bad if I missed a first because hubby was so excited and we were able to share, and of course visa versa.
    Good Luck in your decision.

Do you want to go back to work or do you want to keep spending time with your child that could never be replaced. You are lucky. I am lucky enough to work at home too. Sounds like if you found something to make more money or that you might have a passion for you would stay at home with your baby. I’d love to give you my website because for me it will last a lifetime and I have a great passion for it. Email me though because I would **** to be reported for abuse for advertising. Good Luck!

First off being a Homemaker is one of the most rewarding jobs you will ever have. Don’t worry about what everyone else thinks of you. Think about it this way. You will know that your baby is not in some daycare where you have to worry about her over all safety. You will get to see all of her firsts. First tooth, word, step, etc… By all means run a business if it is making you even a little money whats to say that it won’t grow and end up making you a ton of money. Then when your daughter is in school you can run that full time yet be home when she gets out of school. I run a business from home and my sons come home to mommy not an empty house. I LOVE IT!!!
