Anyone know about those “Small Biz Books” for business plans?

Lilo asked:

I’m thinking about buying one of the Small Biz Books I saw in Entrepreneur magazine. Are they a great resource in guiding me to a certain business start up?

It depends — some of the books were written by someone who actually knows the business having actually done the business.

Unfortunately, there are some books where you know that the author merely researched the information and not really dug in the trenches, so to speak, that the author doesn’t have a real idea of what the business really is. Those kinds of books are too general without any real depth

I suggest you check out Amazon.com and search for similar books (there’s almost always other books on the topic). Read the reviews carefully (some of the reviews are real, while some are of course bogus PR-crap). Then make your decision (or buy all the titles you find)
